El pasado viernes veintiseis y en el marco del Día Internacional contra las drogas el Presidente Calderón dijo que el no creer en dios, el no conocer a dios, es la causa de que los jóvenes consuman drogas y la causa de la delincuencia. Lamentables declaraciones discriminatorias agravadas por venir del Jefe de un Estado laico que podrá creer en lo que quiera pero esa es su creencia personal. Compartimos el comunicado emitido por la comunidad atea en México:
A la opinión pública:
Los miembros de la comunidad ATEÍSMO DESDE MÉXICO, somos un grupo de individuos que nos manifestamos como no-creyentes en ninguna clase de dios, entidad sobrenatural, poder superior u otra realidad, por considerar la existencia de dichos elementos incompatibles con la realidad que nos rodea, además de innecesarios para el ejercicio diario de nuestras vidas.
Nuestra falta de creencia nunca ha sido impedimento para esmerarnos y desarrollarnos en las actividades y profesiones en las que nos desempeñamos, ni para contribuir con el mejoramiento de nuestras comunidades, ni para ser miembros productivos de nuestra sociedad ni para procurar el bienestar de nuestras familias. Al contrario, sostenemos que la decisión de vivir una vida fundamentada en la razón, el humanismo y el conocimiento comprobable ajeno a subjetivismos y actos de fe es una decisión completamente ética y que nos hace proclives a un desarrollo personal pensado, meditado y consciente.
Por tal motivo RECHAZAMOS CATEGÓRICAMENTE las declaraciones del C. Presidente Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, según las cuales el no creer en un dios o dioses es un motivo para que los jóvenes incurran en el uso de las drogas.
Consideramos la adicción a las diversas drogas como algo lamentable para el ser humano. Al mismo tiempo que respetamos que el C. Presidente tenga y profese una creencia determinada, lamentamos que en un estado laico, donde la propia Constitución garantiza la libertad de profesar cualquier o ninguna creencia, se hagan este tipo de declaraciones que discrimina al grupo de personas que ejercemos nuestro derecho constitucional a no creer.
EL DISCURSO QUE EL PRESIDENTE SOSTIENE ES CLARAMENTE DISCRIMINATORIO hacia quienes no profesamos creencia religiosa alguna al implicar que la no creencia en Dios (y precisamente en el dios en el que el presidente cree) está directamente relacionada con el consumo de drogas. Los ateos, entre los que los firmantes nos encontramos, somos hombres y mujeres de bien, gente que trabaja, estudia y busca superarse. Paralelamente, una mirada a las estadísticas pertinentes comprobará que gran parte de los adictos a alguna droga son teístas - creyentes en algún poder sobrenatural - incluidos los que creen en el mismo dios al que el presidente alude.
La presente es una PROTESTA que busca crear conciencia e informar que los ateos NO SOMOS DELINCUENTES, que el no creer en un dios no es causa ni evidencia de una moralidad insuficiente o inferior a la de los creyentes. Les invitamos a ustedes, como publicación seria y a sus lectores como seres pensantes, a que tomen conciencia de que lo que en realidad somos los ateos: personas que vivimos sin utilizar explicaciones sobrenaturales para darle sentido a la vida y a nuestro rol social. Independientemente de si somos una minoría en la población Mexicana, apelamos a las garantías que la Ley nos otorga a todos los mexicanos para no ser discriminados.
